Word of the Week: Seiyuu

Koe de Oshigoto!

Seiyuu is the term for a voice actor or voice actress in Japan. It often refers to anime or video games, but can be used for radio, talk shows, and other jobs requiring voice overs including live-action movies. Since there's nothing left to say about that, I'll talk about an anime involving seiyuu.

The above image is from an anime (and manga) I probably shouldn't even be watching called Koe de Oshigoto! It looked interesting enough to draw me in. The anime is about Kanna Aoyagi, a 16 year old girl who is asked to become an eroge (erotic game) seiyuu by her older sister. Throughout the series, her innocent mind is corrupted as she's forced to say dirty words, and mimic certain things to get her voice acting right, but she's still pretty bad at it, luckily she has "that". I guess I can kind of sympathize with Kanna, the innocent 16 year old thing, not the voicing porn thing. I do not voice porn!

It's not a bad anime, except for the fact that the manga was written by a person who normally draws hentai (porn) doujin. It's categorized as ecchi, but it's pretty borderline, since it doesn't show any...real parts, just rainbow-film looking ghost images... Avert your innocent eyes, and ears!  YEP. Nothin' dirty here. Nope. Not at all...

But seriously, that series isn't for kids. It's got plenty of NSFW images, THOROUGHLY KID SAFE CENSORED** xxx scenes, use of amusing audio censors, gainaxing, suggestive scenes, and more THOROUGHLY KID SAFE CENSORED** xxx scenes.

Honestly, I'm one of those odd people who reads it for the story, and once you get past those above points, it's pretty funny and the innocent romance (so far) between Kanna and Motoki is cute.
